The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea!

The name of the DPRK is associated with the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung who had the noble idea of loving his country and people.

After the national liberation from the Japanese imperialist colonial rule in 1945, the President led the work for setting up a unified central government of Korea and paid deep attention to adopting the name of the country.

The President said that the name of the country should be the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, after considering the immediate task and basic purpose of our revolution.

At that time, some people who were affected by flunkeyism caviled at the name of the country, saying it was too long and the other countries did not make their names in that way.

The President stressed that the name of the country should be made in conformity with the condition of our country and demands of the people.

And he said that the name of the country "the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea" shows clearly the independent, democratic and popular character of our Republic.

The President, saying that we should establish a sovereign and independent state on the basis of a democratic national united front embracing all the patriotic forces of all social standings and such state should be a democratic people’s republic, lit up clearly the character of the republic which would be involved in the name of the country.

In this way, the President maintained the stand of Juche thoroughly in adopting the name of the country.

Thanks to the wise leadership of the President, our country which at one time had disappeared from the world map is now well known all over the world as an independent, sovereign state with its proud name of the country.
