Though They Carried Out Their Duty

The following happened one day last May. The 5th Battalion of the 5th Brigade of the High-Speed Youth Shock Brigade, engaged in a construction project in Samjiyon City, was making preparations for withdrawal from worksite after fulfilling its task before the planned time.

However, the battalion commander Kim Song Guk was not in a good mood. It was because their counterparts did not complete their tasks until that time, and yet he could not willingly order their members to help others.

Then he was approached by a subcommander of the battalion. The latter said that the members of the battalion were eager for helping other battalions.

Kim Song Guk was deeply impressed by his laudable members.

During the past period a lot of praiseworthy anecdotes were given to birth at the battalion: making preparations for others’ work in early mornings; handing over their tools to other battalions suffering from lack of them.

That day, too, the commanders and members of the 5th battalion took voluntary charge of difficult tasks and carried them out and thus the record of the brigade was heightened remarkably. It was a proud success brought about by their precious minds that when all the battalions advance together the duty assumed before the brigade can be fulfilled.

With Call "Our Physician"

Kim Hye Yong is an ophthalmologist at the Kumya County Hospital. She is famous not only for her high medicine among residents in the county but for utmost sincerity and warm affection.

Several years ago she came to know the fact that a young inpatient was parentless.

She fathomed the mind of parentless patient who was missing his parents and visited and bestowed warm affection on him for over 80 days when she was in hospital. And when he left hospital, she took him to her house and gave him specially prepared foods as well as new clothes. That day he was moved to tears and called her "mother."

Until now, the hospital receives lots of letters of thanks to Kim Hye Yong.

All the letters contain the call "Our Physician"; this shows precious appreciation of masses on a beautiful person who finds pleasure and happiness in regarding other’s pain as her own and removing it even a little.
