Phyohun Temple with Long History

Mt Kumgang, a famous mountain in our country, has a lot of valuable cultural heritages of the Korean nation.

One of them is the Phyohun Temple which is proud of a long history.

The Phyohun Temple is situated in the mouth of the Manphok Valley at Mt Kumgang in Kangwon Province.

According to records, the temple was built in 670 and remodeled in 1778.

The temple has several buildings and they are very delicate.

The Panyabo Hall is a main building of the temple. It is a building with the doubled gable roof. Its front is three kans(14.09m) and the side is also three kans(9.4m).

The Phyohun Temple showing the prominent architecture of our ancestors is preserved well as a valuable historical and cultural heritage thanks to our Party’s policy on protecting cultural heritage.
