The Pyongyang General Hospital, a world-class medical service base, has been wonderfully built in the capital city of Pyongyang as a perfect embodiment of the Workers’ Party of Korea’s plan for modernizing public health and its idea on Juche-oriented architectural beauty.

Also, hospital construction gains momentum in cities and counties across the country according to the Party’s new policy of regional development.

This is an important revolutionary undertaking to build a civilized country where the people are provided with actual benefits and protection of the superior public health system, regardless of the region, by developing the overall public health of the country on the basis of the completion of this hospital as a model medical centre.

Last February, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un inspected the completed general hospital and said that public health, too, is an important element and index of evaluating national power and that the public health sector plays even a more important role in our socialist society centered on the people.

His instructions bear his grand plan and iron will to turn our public health into the soil growing the strength of life of this country and the solid roots of regional rejuvenation.

Setting up modern hospitals in all cities and counties to bring advanced medical service facilities closer to the regional people and enable all of them to freely enjoy the benefits of modern medicine, at the same time as building a first-class general hospital in the capital city as befits the pivot and hub of our country’s public health sector so that its techniques, experiences and exemplary practices can spread across the country―this is the Party’s plan for the modernization of public health.

This plan is being carried out without deflection at the moment.

In the speech made at the groundbreaking ceremony of a hospital and leisure complex in Kangdong County, the respected General Secretary taught that to put the reconstruction of hospitals in cities and counties in parallel with the construction of the general hospital in the capital city is in keeping with the mission of the socialist public health to take responsibility for the life and health of the entire population; it is also in full accord with the new regional development policy, and this is just the road to the fastest development based on the advantages of our system.

Steadfast is our Party’s determination to bring about revolution in public health in the new era and thus make ours the most advanced, modern and world-class public health.
