Local Specialties He Paid Deep Attention to

Last February the respected General Secretary took part in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ragwon County Offshore Farm. At the ceremony he reminded the participants of our Party’s policy on effectively exploiting and utilizing the regional natural and economic resources and stressed the need to open up a new sphere of aquaculture unique to Ragwon County in offshore farming, counting specialties of the county one by one.

Recollecting the day when the General Secretary redoubled the county people’s confidence in creating a new life and new happiness, our people remember one unforgettable story.

When the General Secretary visited Samjiyon County (at that time) one day, referring to the specialty of Samjiyon he asked a senior official how much blueberry the county produced per hectare.

The official replied that it was increasing the per hectare yield after introducing a new method of cultivation which was researched by a university.

Then the General Secretary said the blueberry production was good and gave instructions about revitalization of the production as follows:

It is necessary to expand the blueberry field and raise the yield of blueberry per hectare more than 3 tons in order to increase the blueberry production. Samjiyon County should manufacture beverages with blueberry to serve the people and study tour groups.

The official looked up to with boundless reverence the General Secretary, who was setting out tasks and methods for blueberry cultivation.

Then he said that it should do well the work for researching and introducing new methods of blueberry cultivation to increase the yield of per hectare and the work for improving species of blueberry in the future.

He taught the official the detailed method for increased production of blueberry he personally found. Presently, he stressed the need to push forward with the work for raising the proportion of mechanization, specialization and scientification in the blueberry cultivation.

Later, the method of revitalization of local industry taught by the General Secretary has been thoroughly applied to the production and now the Samjiyon Blueberry Drink Factory produces delicious drinks, candies, jellies, breads, tea and other local special foods.

Through this story, we are sure that a communist paradise proud of rich life will be built on this land under the wise guidance of the respected General Secretary who leads the people to exploit well local natural and economic resources and availably use them to rapidly develop the local economy.
