On August １５, ２０１８ when the whole country was in festive mood, the General Secretary gave field guidance at the Yangdok area with the plan to arrange a comprehensive and modern hot spring resort in Onjong-ri, Yangdok County.
Although he visited the Yangdok area with a great expectation even missing his breakfast, the General Secretary was very disappointed passing the low ridge on the way from Onjong-ri to the Sokthang Hot Spring.
Because there had been no data on the yield of hot spring, temperature of hot spring, etc. and commanding officers of the KPA in the area and the accompanying officials did not know about the data.
So, that day the General Secretary with the determination to personally confirm everything about it went round all the hot spring valleys through rugged mountain chains in the Onjong-ri area for a long time to learn about the yield of hot spring and surroundings.
He was drenched in heavy rain, but he continuously made rounds of the spot.
At last the General Secretary found a hot spring gushing out and he was very glad as if he found priceless treasures.
He earnestly told the accompanying officials that he made up his mind to splendidly build the hot spring resort for the people in the place.
He continued that Yangdok County with high mountains, fresh verdure, clean air and beautiful scenery is suitable place for building hot spring resorts and sanatoria, stressing the need to build a large general hotel and self-cooking lodgings. He also instructed to build all kinds of modern health complexes that offer all kinds of hot spring bath services including individual hot spring bath, public hot spring bath as well as indoor bath and outdoor hot spring bath in the area. …
"Ridge of despair, " this represents the ardent desire of the respected General Secretary to provide the people with the best place for hot spring and greatest happiness.
