Kim Song Ju Primary School
President
The President met new pupils and learned about their school preparations with paternal affection.
Talking with young pupils for a long time, he confirmed that a universal 11-year compulsory education could be enforced in our country.
That day the President gave teachers detailed instructions arising in the education of pupils.
So, from September 1, 1975, a universal 11-year compulsory education had been enforced in our country.
In July 1997 Taedongmun Primary School was renamed as Kim Song Ju Primary School naming after the august name of the President in his childhood in reflection of the unanimous aspiration of all the people to glorify the undying exploits of the President for education of rising generation.
Jungsong Rice-cooking Shop

The Jungsong Rice-cooking Shop situated in Jungsong-dong, Central District of Pyongyang Municipality was a small unit which had been built according to the President’s instruction for housewives taking jobs.
Making rounds of the rice-cooking shop, the President learnt in detail about food supply methods, the number of resident families and the amount of dried noodles.
The President indicated the orientations and ways arising in the operation of the rice-cooking shop.
At the Fifth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in November 1970, the President set it as one of the three major tasks of the technical revolution to free women from the heavy burden of housework.
Pyongyang Children’s Department Store
The President visited the Pyongyang Children’s Department Store on Nov. 17, 1961.
He dropped in at the toy counter on the first floor and kindly instructed to manufacture a lot of toys of various kinds for the children.
At the stationery counter the President, personally writing letters on a paper with a pencil, learned in detail about school things to be supplied to pupils and students.
Then on the second floor the President came up to the winter cap counter to take concrete measures for manufacturing a lot of caps.
Making rounds of the department store, the President gave instructions for managing the department store and supply of goods necessary for study and life of children.
At the Second Plenary Meeting of the Fourth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in December 1961, the President stressed the need to increase the production of goods needed for the children saying that there was nothing to spare for the children.
