Kwangbop Temple at Foot of Mt Taesong
There are many historic relics in Pyongyang which is proud of a long history and culture. Among them is the Kwangbop Temple at the foot of the picturesque Mt Taesong.
The Kwangbop Temple was built during the reign of King Kwanggaetho of Koguryo and it was rebuilt in 1727. But it was totally destroyed during the Fatherland Liberation War by the U.S. imperialists’ indiscriminate bombing.

There are the two-story building Taeung Hall with a gable-roof, Haethal Gate, Chonwang Gate and the octagonal five-story pagoda in the Kwangbop Temple.
The Kwangbop Temple is the priceless historic relics showing well the developed architecture of our ancestors and it is of great value for studying history and culture of our country.
