Needle Fir Forest at Inner Kumgang, Living Monument

The Needle Fir Forest at Inner Kumgang is in Naegumgang-ri, Kumgang County of Kangwon Province, around the Jangan Temple and Phyohun Temple in the picturesque Mt Kumgang.

The area of the fir forest is about １３４.２ hectares. The thick fir forest is a rare one.

The tallest fir tree in the forest is over ３００ years old.

The forest is associated with the leadership exploits of Chairman Kim Jong Il. When he visited the fir forest in June １９８１, he said that the fir trees in the forest were peculiarly tall and instructed to manage well the forest.

It is the typical natural fir forest in our country and is of great academic significance.

It is a living monument adding to the scenery of Mt Kumgang.
