Signal Success Made in Irrigation of Rural Economy

A surprising success has been achieved in realizing the irrigation of rural economy in recent years under the energetic guidance of our Party to bring about the comprehensive development of socialist construction by stepping up rural rejuvenation dynamically.

The desalination project of Lake Kangryong, the Chongchongang-Phyongnam irrigation waterway project and the Hwangju-Kindung waterway project were completed and the irrigation system for hundreds of thousands of hectares of fields perfected to prove greatly effective in agricultural production.

This proud reality is a clear manifestation of the validity and vitality of our Party’s policy on irrigation construction.

The respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un unfolded a far-reaching plan to repair and reinforce the country’s irrigation system and further complete it at the ４th Plenary Meeting of the ８th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

At the ７th Plenary Meeting of the ８th Party Central Committee, he taught one by one about the major tasks to be carried out for pushing ahead with irrigation construction, improvement of medium and small rivers and the concreting project of sea walls and relevant principles.

Irrigation construction which was set as the top priority task of the entire Party and the whole country according to the revolutionary measures taken by the Party has been conducted throughout the rural areas of the country in an intensive way.

Consequently, an irrigation system of hundreds of thousands of hectares of fields was perfected in a short period of three years.

Amid the struggle for perfecting the irrigation system, grain production plan was overfulfilled in ２０２４ as well as in ２０２３ and the national grain production goal is expected to be attained this year, too.

This year, the countrywide wheat cultivation area has increased by over ３３ ０００ hectares as compared with last year and the production plan was fulfilled by １２０% in spite of the unfavorable climatic conditions.

The perfection of the irrigation system brought farms across the country success in not only early-crop farming but also cultivation of other crops like paddy rice.

This vibrant reality is a brilliant fruit brought about by the wise leadership of our Party which intends to build a paradise full of people’s laughter by solving food problem in the near future.
