Block Stream of Mt Okryon

Block Stream of Mt Okryon is a living monument situated in Pujon County, South Hamgyong Province.

They call it Mt Okryon as it was formed by gem-like stones. Herein lies a stony field.

Water runs murmuring under the stony field hundreds of meters long. This is called the block stream.

It is one of the biggest and rarest block streams in our country.

Big rocks were weathered for a long time and broken into small stones and these again rolled down the valley to form this block stream.

Water flowing under the stony field is not seen but only heard; hence people find it very mysterious.

An angle of surface inclination of the block stream is about 10 degree.

The layer of stones is averagely 4 to 5 meters in height and 15 to 20 meters in the area of ravine.

Stones wore out a bit at edges and vary in their shape and size.

The Block Stream of Mt Okryon is a valuable living monument, which adds much to the beautiful scenery of Mt Okryon and has an important academic value.
