Kaesim Temple, Historic Relic

The Kaesim Temple is a cultural relic with a long history, situated in Inner Chilbo of Mt Chilbo.

It is comprised of the Taeung Hall (main shrine), Manse Pavilion, Simgom Hall, Umhyang Pavilion, Kwanum Hall, Sansin Pavilion, etc.

The Taeung Hall, the main building, is a gabled house with three folding doors on the front and two on the side, which was decorated with splendid colour paintings.

In the hall, there are historic relics representative of our ancestors’ resourcefulness and talent.

Standing in the backyard is a 600-odd-year old chestnut tree which is a natural living monument.

In the courtyard of the temple is a well.

It is said that if one drinks a cup of its water, it makes one ten years younger.

The Kaesim Temple where our people’s superior talents and wisdom permeated is a cultural recreation ground frequented by visitors to Mt Chilbo.
