Path We Have Followed Is Glorious and Course We Should Take Is Filled with Confidence
At the watershed of history greeting the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, our people look back upon the road they covered with pride and picture the rosy future with confidence.
They keenly realize the truth of history that our country is powerful and our people are dignified thanks to the leadership of the great Party.
Several days ago, the whole country seethed on the receipt of the news about the splendid opening of the Ninth Party Congress.
Everyone read in the Party newspaper the opening address made by the respected General Secretary
In the opening address, he said that the past five years since the Eighth Congress of the WPK was a proud period when the whole Party and all the people brought about an epochal turn in implementing the socialist cause of our own style on the strength of solid unity, and that our socialist construction spanning long years has not been plain sailing, but never has there been such a period as this one, in which we achieved so great successes despite the severity of trials and difficulties.
Keeping his words in the heart, everyone looked back upon the past five years since the Eighth Party Congress with deep emotion.
Those were truly difficult days.
Not in a single year nor at a single moment had we been free from harsh trials and difficulties.
However we wrought miracles of history, braving all of them boldly.
Our national defence capabilities were strengthened at a rapid speed and the goal for building ５０ ０００ flats in Pyongyang Municipality was successfully over-fulfilled to present magnificent new streets in the capital.
Better still, our countryside markedly changed year after year.
Along with the increasing wealth of civilization and popular policies, happy songs and children’s laughter filled every house and our life got more and more civilized as days went by.
However, the dazzling creations which mushroomed across the country are not enough to explain about the invaluable victory we achieved over the past five years.
What is the most important is that the people, masters of the state, grew greatest-ever in their strength and confidence.
That ordinary people grew into heroes of the times and performers of miracles in the era of changes unprecedented in history is so big and precious a success convincing us of the country’s advance and beautiful future.
In those days, the citizens in this country kept deep in their minds once again the truth that the country’s prosperity and a citizen’s happy life and future are possible when they hold up the Party with loyalty.
Over the past five years, we felt so keenly the entities of policies which reflect the sincerity of the motherly Party which always cares about how to make our country more prosperous and how to hold our people, the best in the world, in higher esteem and provide them with the happiest life.
The confidence in and optimism about the future which fill our hearts are also rooted here.
At present, voices of confidence in the eye-opening miracles to be witnessed in the coming five years can be heard in every workplace of this country.
At the same time, greater creations and innovations are made everywhere.
Endlessly conveyed is news about trustworthy young people volunteering to work at difficult and labor-consuming jobs and workers across the country doing things good for the society and the collective of their own accord.
As was described in a song, our people are full of boundless pride that the respected General Secretary is guiding us and of unshakable confidence and optimism that only miracles and victories are in store for them when they follow the guidance of the Party.
Our people picture the bright future receiving the news about the Party Congress every day.
Today, we are faced with an honorable fighting task to more staunchly and more bravely advance forward toward the new goal of victory indicated by the Ninth Party Congress, more firmly united with patriotism.
Citizens living in the era of great changes!
Let us uphold the leadership of the Party faithfully with firm trust in our Party for the brighter tomorrow of the country and the rosy future of the posterity.
