Peasants’ Centuries-old Desire Realized under His Great Guidance
Today is a significant day marking the 80th anniversary of the publication of the Agrarian Reform Law in our country.
On the occasion of this meaningful day, all the people across the country recollect with deep emotion the immortal exploits of President
The President, who had created a model of agrarian reform in the period of anti-Japanese armed struggle, set the agrarian reform as the primary task of the democratic reform after the liberation of the country and proclaimed the Agrarian Reform Law on March 5, 1946.
The President saw that the agrarian reform was thoroughly conducted in the principle of confiscation without compensation and distribution without charge under the slogan of "Land to the tillers!" in the countryside.
Thanks to his energetic leadership the agrarian reform was successfully conducted and thus lots of lands which had been owned by Japanese imperialists and their lackeys and landlords were distributed free to landless or land-poor peasants.
This led to the removing of feudal land ownership and exploitative system once and for all in the countryside of our country and the realization of centuries-old desire of peasants for raising crops on their own land.
Our peasants turned out as one for the first year farming to repay the benevolence of the President who put them forward as the genuine masters of land and reaped a bumper harvest.
Kim Je Won, a peasant of the Jaeryong Plain in South Hwanghae Province who is well known as the initiator of the patriotic movement of donating cereals in our country, displayed a patriotic deed of dedicating thirty bags of rice to the country.
Following his example, lots of peasants took an active part in the movement to make a positive contribution to nation-building.
The agrarian reform was, indeed, a historic event which opened up a new chapter of the solution of the rural question in our country.
Our people will add luster to the immortal revolutionary exploits of the President who laid a solid cornerstone for the building of a prosperous, independent and sovereign state by effecting a gigantic social transformation for solving rural question in the early years of building a new country.
