"Samsonam", First Stamp in Our Country after Liberation

The stamp "Samsonam" is the first stamp issued in our country after the liberation.

President Kim Il Sung saw that stamps reflecting the appearance of new Korea and our people’s sentiments of life were newly produced and indicated detailed tasks and ways for their issue.

Thanks to his initiative and wise leadership, the work for producing the first stamp of our own style was powerfully promoted even though everything was in short supply.

When he inspected the first stamp "Samsonam", the President said that our people finally became able to have correspondence using our stamps and gave instructions to produce more stamps of better quality.

As soon as the stamp "Samsonam" representing the appearance of new Korea was produced, it was widely spread among our people and made a positive contribution to arousing the patriotic zeal of our people who went all out for the building of a new country.

The issue of the stamp "Samsonam" served as an important occasion signaling the start of the history of Juche-oriented stamp issue in our country.

March １２, this year, is the ８０th anniversary of the issue of the first stamp in our country after the liberation.
