First Woman Deputy of the Country
As the day of election draws near, Kim Son Sil, an old woman living in Sojang-dong in Pothonggang District, finds herself often lost in deep thought.
Her mother, Kim Tuk Ran, the prototype of heroine in the Korean feature film "Cradle" well-known to the people across the country, is one of the first women deputies of the country.
Born as the eighth child of a poor farmer, she was abandoned as a newborn baby even before having a name owing to poverty and old customs of subjection of women.
Though she survived with the help of an old man in the village, she only suffered sorrow and misery of a kitchen maid.
It was none other than President
The promulgation of the Agrarian Reform Law and the Law on Sex Equality relieved her of poverty and maltreatment and let her live a genuine life.
Full of gratitude for the benevolence, she devoted her everything to do as much work as possible.
In this course, she grew up to be a member of the Workers’ Party of Korea, chairwoman of the sub-county committee of the women’s union and the first woman deputy of the country.
Thereafter, she worked as a deputy and vice-chairwoman of the Supreme People’s Assembly for a long time.
As her worthwhile life was granted by the genuine people’s government and the benevolent socialist system, her descendants including Kim Son Sil are full of enthusiasm for cementing our people’s power rock-firm.
