Listening to a Farmer’s Opinion
One day in August, ２０２０, the respected General Secretary
After learning about the situation of damage on the spot, he asked a farmer where would be good to build new houses.
Listening to his honest answer, the respected General Secretary stressed again that neat and clean dwelling houses should be built in the damaged villages.
Everyone felt a lump in the throat.
After a short while, he asked him once again what kind of house the farmers liked.
Listening to the farmer’s reply, the respected General Secretary taught to make designs for detached and semidetached houses and let farmers, not officials, deliberate on them.
His words filled the hearts of the officials with the attentive care and fatherly love for the people.
Thanks to such ardent love for the people cherished by the respected General Secretary, rural dwelling houses where the farmers’ opinions were fully reflected could be built on the land which had been swept by the frenzies of nature.
Seed of Our Party’s Regional Construction
The following happened one day in November, ２０２１, when the respected General Secretary visited Rimyongsu-dong in Samjiyon City.
He had a bird’s-eye view of Rimyongsu-dong which was wonderfully transformed as befitting a scenic spot with the characteristics of a forestry workers’ village.
Then, all of a sudden, he cast his eyes on a building.
The building was designed exactly the same as a recreation ground at the Masikryong Ski Resort.
The respected General Secretary pointed out that, if the designers kept applying the same design to several buildings, there would appear same or similar buildings across the country.
Listening to his instructions, the officials reproached upon their wrong attitude of working in a formalistic way, far from trying to rack their brains to come up with fresh and peculiar designs for different regions with different natural and geographical conditions and features.
As such various coats as those with stand-up and turn-down collars are made with the same cloth, so buildings should be built in diverse forms, he taught, and added that it is the seed and core of regional construction to build regions in such a way as to preserve their characteristics and harmonize well with the surrounding environment.
That day, the designing officials hardened their will to help toward erecting wonderful monumental edifices on this land by putting their heart and soul into every single piece of design, regarding the instructions of the respected General Secretary as the lifeline.
