Thonggun Pavilion in Uiju
Thonggun Pavilion in Uiju County, North Phyongan Province, has been known as a scenic spot from of old as it has a beautiful scenery.
On the pavilion one can see the old ramparts of Uiju Walls and islands in Amnok River.
Thonggun Pavilion has a long history, which was used as a command post of Uiju Walls.
It is famous for its superior architectural style, elegant colors and elaborate engraving.
In general, the pavilion has more kans at the front than at the side and has odd kans at the front. But Thonggun Pavilion has same kans at the front and side and four(even number) kans at the front.
Thonggun Pavilion is one of historical relics representing the pavilion architecture in our country as well as Ryongwang Pavilion in Pyongyang, Inphung Pavilion in Kanggye, Paeksang Pavilion in Anju.
