Eternal Ideal of Workers’ Party of Korea

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, in his historic concluding speech at the Ninth Party Congress, stressed that as we have lifted the ideals of "The people are god, " single-hearted unity and self-reliance as the banner of struggle and advance during the eighth term of the Party Central Committee, the Party Central Committee will invariably be faithful to the three ideals during its ninth term.

Whereas the ideal of "The people are god" reflects our Party’s consistent demand that the entire Party must hold fast to the revolutionary Party trait of regarding it as the starting point and absolute and invariable principle of its building and activities to serve the people, the ideals of single-hearted unity and self-reliance embody in a concentrated way the ideological and theoretical viewpoint and political requirements concerning the lifeline and motive force of our revolution.

These three ideals are a powerful propellant for accelerating the comprehensive development of our-style socialism.

Noble Ideal of "The People are God"

The ideal of "The people are god" is the fundamental ideal of the Workers’ Party of Korea which regards the people as heaven.

The noble ideal is based on the most scientific outlook on the absolute position and decisive role of the popular masses that are the driving force of the revolution, while taking root in the trust and love for them.

For the past five years since the Eighth Party Congress, our Party has regarded it as an iron rule of its revolutionary leadership to bring into eye-opening reality whatever our people desire and provide them with new life and new civilization as soon as possible and consistently adhered to it.

The construction of ５０ ０００ flats in the capital city, regional development policy, rural revolution programme, the socialist policies for posterity, a new childcare policy and so on reflect the ideal of “The people are god” of our Party which set the strong desire of people as the starting point of adopting all the lines and policies, the realization of people’s dreams and ideals as the principle of its activities.

Our Party which set the ideal of “The people are god” as the noble political ideal and political creed has taken practical measures for making the people benefit from the popular policies at important Party meetings including the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee and pressed ahead with the work for its realization.

Our Party’s leadership permeating with the spirit of making selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people is run through with boundless love for the people.

Our Party, in the next five years’ struggle, too, will struggle more vigorously for realizing the centuries-old desire of the people by invariably holding fast to the ideal of "The people are god".

Single-minded Unity, Mainstay of Korean Revolution

Single-minded unity which is the mainstay of Korean revolution and ever-victorious weapon is the revolutionary philosophy of the WPK that accelerates comprehensive development of socialism on the strength of the people closely united with one thought and will and noble moral obligation.

Single-minded unity of our people rallied close round the Party is the cornerstone of our-style socialism.

The past five years were the days when the unity and creativity of the masses were aimed at the successful conclusion of the first-phase struggle for pioneering and transformation for the comprehensive development of socialism under the leadership of our Party upholding the banner of single-minded unity.

Our Party saw that the people cherish the truthfulness and validity of Party’s policies and turn out for its implementation by giving precedence to ideological work and has brought about steady upsurges in the overall socialist construction with the strength of one ideology by kindling a fierce flame of socialist patriotic movement and revolutionary mass movements.

Radically increased is the zeal for making new miracles and new records of our people and youth by volunteering for major theatres of socialist construction called by the Party.

In those days, our single-minded unity was put on the highest level and new trend of comprehensive development of socialism was pioneered.

The fact that cherished desires regarded to be realized only in the distant future have been brought to the present reality is a striking demonstration of the vitality of the ideal of single-minded unity upheld by our Party.

Our people will constantly make an epochal advance in the socialist construction with the might of single-minded unity under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, holding up the banner of single-minded unity, the mainstay of the Korean revolution.

Self-reliance Is Powerful Weapon for Development and Prosperity

Self-reliance which is the tradition of Korean revolution and a driving force of building a powerful socialist country is the political line of the WPK which builds socialist paradise drawing on the foundation and potential of independent development.

Our Party defines the self-reliance as the basic orientation and method of development in socialist construction and set it as the permanent political line to consistently maintain it, not as the temporary countermeasure for coping with obstacles in the way of advance.

Thanks to the invariable faith and will of the WPK, our people’s revolutionary spirit of self-sustenance was steadily displayed, and thus the five-year plan for national economic development set forth at the Eighth Party Congress was basically fulfilled in the economic sector, the main front of socialist construction.

One-fifth of the regions came to have the solid foundation for independent development in mere two years’ struggle and foundations for achieving prosperity by dint of self-reliance were further consolidated.

Remarkable changes have been made in the strengthening of the country’s defence capabilities for the past five years thanks to the steady progress of the self-supporting defence industry which firmly supports the Republic military force.

Thanks to the leadership of our Party which regards self-reliance as its lifeline, the internal force has remarkably increased and confidence in our own strength further redoubled. This is valuable spiritual and material assets that can not be compared with anything in the world.

Having cherished in practice the truth that the shortcut to prosperity is to live by their own efforts in reliance on their strength, our people are now vigorously advancing toward fresh victory along the bright path shown by the historic Ninth WPK Congress.

Our ideals, goals and advancing speed will ceaselessly change and develop, but those ideals peculiar to the Korean revolution will remain unchanged and their inexhaustible might is confidently propelling our socialist construction towards a bright future.

Ever-victorious is the cause of the WPK which invariably holds high the ideology of believing in the people as in Heaven, single-minded unity and self-reliance as the banner of struggle and advance.
