On Occasion of 80th Founding Anniversary of Paper "Chongnyon Jonwi"

Newspaper "Chongnyon Jonwi" has greeted its ８０th founding anniversary.

The ８０-year-long history of the newspaper is a proud course in which it has fully displayed its might as a revolutionary media conducive to the ideological education of young people under the warm care of peerlessly great persons.

Seeing through the role of newspaper in educating young people politically and ideologically, President Kim Il Sung gave attentive guidance on the foundation of the newspaper.

Thanks to his guidance, the preparations for founding a newspaper for young people made successful progress and the organ of our youth organization announced its birth on April ２０, １９４６.

The President renamed the newspaper "Minju Chongnyon" in keeping with the requirements of the developing revolution.

In the period of the arduous Fatherland Liberation War, the newspaper fulfilled its mission and duty as a powerful ideological weapon infusing confidence in sure victory and matchless courage in the hearts of young people.

Later, the President renamed the newspaper "Rodong Chongnyon" in order to make the revolutionary character of the newspaper clearer and gave important instructions for its publication.

Chairman Kim Jong Il, true to the President’s intention, saw that the paper served as a powerful weapon for ideological education of young people.

He visited the newspaper office several times and gave precious instructions on its editing, and highly praised that the young people’s newspaper was a heroic one.

He bestowed high appreciation on excellent articles of the paper and sent cameras and vehicles needed for the paper editing.

He also renamed the paper "Chongnyon Jonwi".

Such great love and trust of his are still shining in the history of the newspaper office.

Today, the newspaper continues its proud course of development, holding up the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un who is ushering in a great heyday of prioritizing youth.

Under his attentive guidance, the newspaper is fully discharging its mission and duty as a paper fully arming the successors to the revolution in a political and ideological way.

"Chongnyon Jonwi" will creditably perform its mission as a bugler loyal to our Party and continue the offensive ideological campaign to let the revolutionary spirit of Paektu, the spirit of the blizzards of Paektu, sweep the theaters for building a powerful socialist country.
