Spotted-pattern Porcelain, Our Excellent Cultural Wealth

Spotted-pattern porcelain is one of the superior traditional ceramic workmanship heritages created by the Korean people in the period of Koryo as well as the Koryo celadon.

The spotted-pattern porcelain is shaped through the method of molding clays with 3-odd colors and then baked after putting glaze on it. The unique patterns on them resemble waves, wind, cloud and the like.

The spotted-pattern porcelain, once disappeared along with the passage of time, came to be acknowledged again in the era of the Workers’ Party of Korea thanks to the painstaking efforts of creators to carry forward and develop our people’s cultural traditions.

People find it very attractive as it embodies novel ideas and profound artistic sentiment of creators.

Beautiful spotted-pattern porcelains of various types actively contribute to the cultural and emotional life of people.

The know-how of spotted-pattern porcelain, excellent cultural wealth of our people, was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in May 2018.
