39th National Festival of Science and Technology Opens in DPRK
The 39th National Festival of Science and Technology opened with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex on April 28, under the sponsorship of the C.C., General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.
The festival on the theme of "Science and Technology, Guarantee for Implementing the New Five-Year Plan" brought together officials, scientists and technicians from over 590 units who were nominated by the commissions, ministries and national agencies and highly appreciated at provincial (municipal) sci-tech festivals.
The festival will be held, divided into dozens of panels including the metallurgical, chemical, electric power and machine-building industries. The achievements, made in the course of conducting a dynamic brainstorming campaign for the development of the country’s economy and the improvement of the people’s living standards, are displayed in the forms of products, models and moving exhibits.
During the festival there will be a sci-tech seminar, presentation, technical lecture and exchanges of new technical products.
Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Sung Du, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, officials concerned and working people.
Kim Song Bin, chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology, made an opening address.
He called upon all the participants to make positive efforts to expand their scientific and technological insight and provide a reliable scientific and technological guarantee for carrying out the new long-term plan while actively sharing and exchanging the successes and experience during the festival.
