The Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland was an anti-Japanese national united front organization involving broad patriotic masses opposing Japanese imperialists and desiring for national independence.
In the mid-1930s the prevailing situation urgently called for leading the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle to a great upsurge by uniting the whole nation.
The President, in the Nanhutou Meeting, put forward the policy of founding an all-nation united front organization and pressed ahead with the preparations for its realization.
Despite ceaseless march and battles on the way from Nanhutou to Donggang, the President personally drew up the ten-point programme, rules and inaugural declaration of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland.
Under such preparations, the President convened the historic meeting for founding the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland in Donggang in May 1936 and declared to the world its foundation as a permanent organization of the anti-Japanese united national front and powerful underground revolutionary organization.
It was a historic event that enabled the broad anti-Japanese patriotic forces of all strata to be united as one under the idea of unity and powerfully aroused them to the sacred war for the national liberation.
To our people, the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland was just the banner of unity and national liberation.
Under the leadership of the President, the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland became a powerful organization enabling the broad anti-Japanese patriotic forces of all strata to turn out in the final decisive battle against the Japanese imperialists simultaneously and made a tangible contribution to defeating Japanese imperialists.
With the strength of unity built up during the anti-Japanese war, our people won the great victory in the fierce Fatherland Liberation War and have steadily advanced the socialist construction braving all the trials and difficulties.
