State Prioritizes Labor Protection of Working People

In our country the state most values and puts forward ordinary working people who lay foundation of prosperity with honest labor and bestows all kinds of benefits upon them. It is well proved by the Law on Labor Protection of the DPRK.

In our country labor protection work has been prioritized all the time and the state spares nothing for the health and life of working people.

Article 3 of the Law on Labor Protection says that the state absolutely maintains the principle of keeping labor protection ahead of production and construction.

After the liberation of the country President Kim Il Sung visited the first-stage iron-procession workshop of the then Songjin Steel Works and saw that the oven of the first-stage iron-procession was blown up saying that we should never exchange life of our workers for steel although it was very precious.

Chairman Kim Jong Il, who inherited spiritual world of love from the President, also loved our workers most.

For example, the Chairman visited a smelting plant tens of years ago to earnestly ask the officials to give priority to the work for protecting health of the workers and take the decisive measure for removing the smelting plant transpiring harmful gas.

10 years ago, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited a factory and said that we value the health of workers more than production result, urging the officials to install the air-conditioner in a few days so that the workers would work in fresh air.

The instruction given by the respected General Secretary reminds us of the fact that our state gives priority to the health and life of workers ahead of production.

The DPRK Law on Labor Protection which was amended and supplemented in March last has provisions regulating guidance on labor protection, ensuring conditions for labor protection, introduction of science research findings related to labor protection, dissemination of scientific knowledge about labor protection and others.

In our country the state ensures by law excellent conditions for labor and rest.

Article 24 of the Law on Labor Protection says that organs, enterprises and units should build modern service amenities such as hostel, mess hall, bathroom, barber’s and resting room and normally operate them.

Article 39 of the Law on Labor Protection says that organs, enterprises and units should build modern sanatoriums and rest homes and properly establish the management and operation system to let the working people regularly have rest there.

In recent years alone, modern workers’ hostels equipped with all necessary facilities were built at the Sariwon Textile Mill and many other units.

In January last, the Onpho Working People’s Holiday Camp, a comprehensive leisure complex and a treatment center, was inaugurated and it has positively contributed to promotion of health of the working people.

There are many palace-like hostels, leisure complexes, rest homes for ordinary working people in different parts of our country which is the only one in the world.

And the working people in the DPRK devote themselves to the work for prosperity of the country with pride of leading worthwhile life under the most advantageous socialist system.
