Rapid Development of Agricultural Productivity Brought by Great Leadership

Our Party, in the whole period of its revolutionary leadership, has put forward the growth of agricultural production as a pressing task for solving the problem of food for the people and has consistently paid deep attention to its correct solution.

The respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un, in his conclusion at the historic Eighth Party Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea, said that we must orient all economic work towards achieving balanced stability and improvement of the people’s living standards, stressing that what is important here is to continue to direct effort to agricultural production and thus solve the food problem of the people in the main.

In retrospect, for the past five years the agricultural sector had to go through graver crisis than any other sectors owing to the ever-worsening climate and severe natural disasters.

However, our Party has vigorously led the struggle for increasing the country’s agricultural production by making a crucial decision, which others do not dare to make, and taking unprecedentedly preferential measures while making arrangements in a foresighted manner to cope with all those difficulties and persistently pushing ahead with them.

The respected Comrade General Secretary, at the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee, said that improving the agriculture is a matter of paramount importance for the state that must be attained whatever the cost in order to solve the food problem for the people and thus step up the socialist construction.

The rural revolution programme in the new era he set forth at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee expounds in a comprehensive and detailed way guidelines for solving the rural question once and for all and achieving the complete victory of socialism as soon as possible.

In particular, the policy on changing the grain production structure of the country is a revolutionary one which can be put forward only by the respected Comrade General Secretary who has put his heart and soul into bringing about fundamental transformations in the agricultural production.

Ideas elucidated in the rural revolution programme in the new era including the issue on kindling once again the hot wind for bean and potato farming on a nationwide scale, the one of increasing per-hectare yield and reaping good crop in low-yielding fields and the one of increasing the production of stock-breeding, fruit, vegetables and industrial crops are precious guidelines for sharply increasing agricultural production at present.

This is why the rural revolution programme in the new era serves as a powerful weapon, a great strategic programme, of great significance in achieving the comprehensive development of socialism and realizing our people’s cherished-desire as soon as possible by stepping up the development of the countryside.

The respected Comrade General Secretary has also led the country’s agriculture to achieve practical development in great breadth and depth.

His noble intention to put the country’s agriculture on a definite upward trajectory as soon as possible is reflected in the revolutionary measures he took for establishing scientific farming system and method to cope with disastrous abnormal climate and successfully concluding huge irrigation projects on a nationwide scale every year and his loving care for providing material and technical foundations favorable to agricultural production by supplying enough farming materials.

Officials and working people in the agricultural sector still remember the moment of excitement when they received the news that the respected Comrade General Secretary declared a favored measure to completely release cooperative farms (at that time) from the arrears of state loans at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee.

The fact in September ２０２２ that a numerous farm machines have been produced in South Hwanghae Province, the biggest agricultural province of the country, was unthinkable apart from the resolute will of the respected Comrade General Secretary to rapidly increase agricultural productivity by consolidating material and technical foundations of the countryside in a substantial way.

Innumerable are also farms the benevolent father visited.

The Junghung Farm in Samjiyon City where he bestowed every manner of love and benevolence while calling for kindling once again the hot wind for potato farming in the agricultural sector, the Ansok Tideland where he learnt about the growth of rice in muddy water, the Ogye and Wollang farms in Anbyon County he visited to give field guidance to the work for eradicating the crop damage caused by typhoon…

As there were the new rural revolution programme in the new era indicating a bright future of the socialist rural construction and the outstanding guidance of the great Party, foundation for increasing agricultural production was further strengthened for the past five years and officials and working people in the agricultural sector became able to advance vigorously towards the rosier future full of confidence and optimism.

As has always been the case in the past years, in the future, too, the agricultural workers will make greater innovations in agricultural production under the banner of the rural revolution programme in the new era set forth by the respected Comrade General Secretary and thanks to the noble ideal and desire of the motherly Party the major front in the socialist economic construction will record only victory.
