In Order to Make All Farms Vibrant
To Establish Perfect Irrigation System
One day in late December ２０２２ during the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), the respected Comrade General Secretary
Examining the plan drawn up in a passive way, the respected Comrade General Secretary was very disappointed that the officials who should lead the work for the rural development shouldering the destiny of Party decisions failed to measure up to the intention of the Party.
On December ３０ in the midst of the plenary meeting, the respected Comrade General Secretary determinedly said to the senior officials of the Party and government that the work for reinforcing and perfecting the irrigation system of the country should be conducted as a great transformation of nature in a bold and big way and that it would be hardly feasible unless they plan the work in a big way.
He said in earnest that the work for reinforcing and perfecting the irrigation system of the country should be scrupulously planned and pushed ahead with nationwide as we do in the construction of １０ ０００ flats in Pyongyang.
Calling for conducting the irrigation project to be permanent, the respected Comrade General Secretary emphasized that the irrigation design should be done perfectly, looking forward to fifty, nay, a hundred years as it is a long-cherished desire of our farmers to solve the water problem in agriculture.
Thanks to his guidance, the irrigation system of the country got further perfected and today agricultural workers achieve success in agricultural production, greatly benefitting from it.
Farm Machine Exhibition He Visited at Outset of New Year
On January ２, ２０２４, the respected Comrade General Secretary visited the farm machine exhibition.
Looking up to him who visited the exhibition at the outset of the new year, officials were moved to tears as they keenly felt the painstaking efforts of the respected Comrade General Secretary for the development of the country’s agriculture.
Looking round the exhibition venue, the respected Comrade General Secretary said that the farm machine industry plays an important role in implementing the rural revolution programme in the new era and that in order to develop the farm machine industry it is necessary to frequently organize exhibitions so that people can exchange experience and successes each other and that was why he attached great significance to the farm machine exhibition.
Ardent as his desire to free agricultural workers from difficult yet labor-consuming work as soon as possible by massively producing and sending highly efficient farm machines to the countryside was, the respected Comrade General Secretary learnt in detail about the performance and technical specifications of the farm machines on display while watching them one by one.
Noting that to bring about a radical improvement in the field of farm machine industry at present is an urgent requirement of the revolution and an important guarantee for implementing the programme for the rural revolution in the new era, he clarified the principled issues for correctly adopting the strategy for developing farm machines and accelerating the modernization of the farm machine production sector and the creation of its capacity and the important tasks for doing so.
Thanks to his energetic guidance, the farm machine field undergoes radical development.
Measure He Took at Plenary Meeting of Party Central Committee
The respected Comrade General Secretary, who has put his heart and soul into rapidly increasing agricultural productivity by dint of science, emphasized to develop the country’s agricultural science and technology at important Party meetings.
At the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK, he said that the agricultural science research sector should play its role in solving agricultural and foodstuff issues, the most pressing ones, and indicated detailed tasks of substantially promoting research projects needed for developing our agriculture into advanced and modern one.
Looking up to the respected Comrade General Secretary who clarified scientific policy to develop the country’s agriculture, all the participants in the plenary meeting were greatly moved.
He continued that it is important to do farming well but the important state affair brooking no further delay includes the work of putting the foundation for the development of the country’s agricultural science and technology on to a higher level as well.
It was, indeed, a clear manifestation of the steadfast will of the respected Comrade General Secretary to put the country’s agriculture on a stable and sustainable development track on the strength of science in the near future.
At that plenary meeting, he also took measures for raising the agricultural research institute to the status of academy of agricultural science.
Indeed, thanks to his wise leadership, the productivity of our agriculture further increases in reliance on advanced agricultural science and technology.
Key to Increased Production He Taught
It is the determined will of the respected Comrade General Secretary that we can rapidly develop the country’s agriculture when we give full play to patriotism, mental strength and creativity of agricultural workers.
On several occasions, he gave precious instructions on bringing about miracles and transformations by giving free scope to the agricultural workers’ mental strength and patriotism.
In December ２０２３, at the Ninth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee, he stressed that provincial, city and county Party committees and the Party and working people’s organizations in agricultural sector should conduct dynamic organizational and political work to give fuller play to the mental strength and patriotism of agricultural guidance officials and those officials of primary organizations in farms and agricultural workers, improve agricultural production in all farms, workteams and sub-workteams through collective competition and step up the development of the countryside.
Officials kept deeper in their minds the noble idea and intention of the respected Comrade General Secretary.
True to his intention, political work for arousing agricultural workers to the attainment of the grain production goal set forth by the Party has been conducted dynamically in every field of the country and their ever-elated mental strength served as a firm guarantee for bringing about a bumper harvest.
