December ３, ２０１９ is a significant day when the inauguration ceremony of the Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm, the first of its kind in our country, was held.
Going round the completed Jungphyong Greenhouse Farm, the respected Comrade General Secretary paid deep attention to species of vegetables to be cultivated at the greenhouse.
After being informed from a scientist that not only lactuca romana but also nutritive vegetables such as broccoli were being cultivated at the soil greenhouse, the respected Comrade General Secretary expressed great satisfaction, adding that highly nutritive and tasty vegetables should be produced at greenhouses.
Quantitative indices are important in vegetable production but what is more important is the nutritional indices and tastes, he said.
When he had visited the construction site of the greenhouse farm in its final stage only tens of days ago, the respected Comrade General Secretary had underscored the need to diversify the variety of vegetables and select and introduce highly nutritive and productive species.
The officials were moved by his noble intention that vegetables supplied to our people should not only be fresh but very delicious and highly nutritive.
The worldwide demands for functional vegetables with distinctive taste and color, rich nutritive elements and high medicinal value are increasing day by day as they enrich people’s life and promote their health.
The respected Comrade General Secretary devoted all to providing our people with such good functional vegetables.
In February ２０１９, too, the respected Comrade General Secretary gave precious instructions to senior officials of the Party Central Committee as regards the species of vegetables to be provided to our people.
That day, he said that leek is a tasty and nutritive vegetable and taught in detail how to process it, adding that it can be fried or used for stuffing dumplings.
That was not all.
Several years ago, the respected Comrade General Secretary was reported that our scientists succeeded in breeding a new species of vegetables.
So pleased that it became possible to provide our people with another nutritious vegetable, the respected Comrade General Secretary earnestly instructed that in the future, not only tasty and nutritious ones but also vegetables of higher quality with medicinal value should be widely cultivated to be provided to people.
As he cared so much for providing our people with as many vegetables of highly nutritive value as possible, the respected Comrade General Secretary assigned the task of intensifying research into highly nutritive "green insam" and completing its cultivation technology to our scientists.
When looking round the Ryonpho Greenhouse farm completed on the significant occasion of the founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the respected Comrade General Secretary clearly indicated the orientation and ways for making researches into breeding a highly nutritive and tasty species of vegetable and personally set its volume of production.
His ardent love for providing the people with as many species of functional vegetables as possible is also associated with the Kangdong Central Vegetable Research Institute of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences which was built as a modern advanced agricultural science research base along with the Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm.
The respected Comrade General Secretary gave precious instructions to officials on building a research institute together with the Kangdong Combined Greenhouse Farm and personally guided its layout, map and blueprint.
Our scientists intensified research into cultivating new species of functional vegetables in the modern vegetable research institute splendidly built under the benevolence of the Party, and made lots of achievements.
Thus, tens of varieties of functional vegetables were sent to large greenhouse farms in Jungphyong, Ryonpho and the area of Wihwa Island, thus contributing to the improvement of people’s dietary life.
The Ryonpho Greenhouse Farm has planted and cultivated with the utmost care ８０-odd species of functional vegetables of ２０-odd kinds sent by the Party since last year and sent a hundred and tens of tons of functional vegetables to public catering establishments in Hamhung City and the baby home, orphanage and others in South Hamgyong Province.
When he visited the Sinuiju Combined Greenhouse Farm on last May ３１, the respected Comrade General Secretary again made an earnest request that the farm should not place importance on the productivity alone, but increase the variety of vegetables and cultivate them in a sci-tech way to provide the people with nutritious and tasty vegetables.
Looking up to the respected Comrade General Secretary who turned the island of misfortune into a paradise island of happiness, officials keenly realized once again his noble outlook on people.
Indeed, fragrance of fresh vegetables is attributable to the attentive loving care of the benevolent father who has unfolded a sea of wonderful greenhouses across the country to supply fresh vegetables to our people all the year round and paid attention even to species of vegetables to be cultivated there.
Along with the fragrance of vegetables, our people’s dietary life will be more affluent.
