Proud Fruition of Party’s Policy on Encouraging Paddy-field Fish Farming

The Samjigang Farm in Jaeryong County is in a festive mood with the bumper harvest of catfish.

The manager of the farm said with pleasure that this year the farm boldly applied paddy-field fish farming method in five hectares of field and was gathering in catfish in ０.３ hectares of field where it had first released fries. He delightfully noted that the farm has harvested a large amount of catfish so far.

Saying that a low estimate of １３ ton of harvest is quite an easy matter for the farm and ４０-odd ton of catfish will be gathered in a hectare of field, he told his happy cause of anxiety that the freezing store will be not enough big to keep all the catfish gathered in five hectares of paddy field.

He also said that the farm was successful in rice farming, too.

Assuring us that the farm would reap １３ ton of rice per hectare, he told us that the farm achieved such a proud success without using several tons of fertilizer which were to be used in five hectares of paddy rice farming as well as cutting down on herbicide.

This spectacular sight unfolded in the era of rural transformation is the proud fruition of the validity and vitality of our Party’s policy on encouraging paddy-field fish farming.

Last year the officials of the farm were informed that the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un expressed great satisfaction after learning about the actual state of paddy-field fish farming in a supply base of a unit of the Korean People’s Army, and made a fresh determination.

The officials and farmers of the farm, with a firm faith that they would achieve success in all works if they did as the Party instructed them, buckled down to the paddy-field fish farming.

Thanks to the splendidly-built spawning ponds they have built with great efforts, they could breed hundreds of thousands of catfish fries and release them to the paddy field.

They also endeavored for acquiring technologies related to the paddy-field fish farming, and thus bred lots of catfish in ７０-odd days.

It is the unanimous thought of the officials and farmers of the Samjigang Farm who brought about a bumper catfish harvest that a remarkable success would be achieved when they make strenuous efforts, accepting the Party’s policies as truth and their faith.
