Famous Composer Kim Won Gyun


There are feats performed by composer Kim Won Gyun, who was boundlessly loyal to the leadership of the Party and glorified his life by creating the hymn praising President Kim Il Sung, in the sacred history of the Juche-oriented music development.

Kim Won Gyun is a talented composer who composed the immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Il Sung".

Looking up to President Kim Il Sung delivering an address at the rally to welcome him on his triumphant return to the homeland, Kim Won Gyun could not repress his emotion to praise the President reflecting the great cheers of our people in melody.

So, when Ri Chan wrote the words of the "Song of General Kim Il Sung", Kim Won Gyun made up his mind to compose the song.

Feeling the strong aspiration of our people for the song praising President Kim Il Sung, peerless patriot, Kim Won Gyun began to compose the song.

Like this, the revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Il Sung", which sings highly of boundless reverence for the President, was born in 1946.

Afterwards, he also composed the national anthem of the DPRK which overflows with ardent love for the beautiful country and sings highly of the strong will to glorify our country as people’s one forever.

During the fierce Fatherland Liberation War he composed the hymn to the leader "Our Supreme Commander" with the firm faith that we are sure to win in the war as we uphold President Kim Il Sung as our supreme commander.

In the Chollima era he composed a song "We Are Running on Chollima Steel" which depicts our people who worked out miracles with the mettle of Chollima.

In addition, he also composed many songs including "March of Korea".

He took part in creation of Sea of Blood-type revolutionary operas under the energetic leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

He was awarded with Order of Kim Il Sung, Kim Il Sung Prize, title of Labor Hero and People’s Artist and many other state commendations.

Kim Won Gyun still remains in our people’s memory as a revolutionary and patriotic composer with the immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Il Sung".
