Personally Drawing Design of National Emblem

The national emblem of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the symbol of the dignity, sovereignty, invincible might and prosperity of our state!

The national emblem was drawn personally by President Kim Il Sung nearly ８０ years ago, who pictured the prosperous future of the country.

As every dot and line of the emblem reflect the desire for building a prosperous country cherished by the President, the founding father of our country, and his ardent patriotism, our people recollect with deep emotion the touching stories conveyed by the meaningful national emblem.

In the days of building a new country, the President put his heart and soul into wonderfully perfecting the national emblem of our country.

One day in November １９４７, the President called the creators and officials and entrusted them with the task to create the national emblem.

The President taught that the national emblem of our country had to be totally fresh and Korean-style which was completely different from any other countries’.

One day in January １９４８, when the artists were not drawing a proper design for the national emblem, preoccupied with the bulky task they assumed, the President personally gave detailed instructions as to the orientation and ways for the work.

When he saw the design of the national emblem again a few months later, the President taught that the national emblem must reflect clearly the development prospects of our country.

He noted that it would be better to reflect electrification showing the orientation of technical development if our country was to become a developed, prosperous and civilized country, though it was not so bad that they had drawn a furnace in the design.

It was the President who drew the Suphung Power Station and high-voltage transmission tower late at night in the design of the national emblem unfolded on his desk.

The rice ears representative of the bright prospect of agricultural development are also related to the wise guidance of the President.

Once, when seeing the draft of the national emblem, he noticed the edge depicted with rice ears and counted the number of rice grains.

Then he taught attentively that more of plumper rice grains had to be drawn, looking ahead into the distant future of agricultural development in our country.

These stories show the personal traits of the President.

That’s why the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un taught that the President saw that rice ears were drawn in the national emblem and that the President was truly sent by the Heavens.

Today, the plan and desire of the President have been translated into brilliant reality in our country and the dignity and might of our state are fully demonstrated.

Our marvelous national emblem will shed its radiance in the future, too, and shine as the symbol of our country’s dignity thanks to the respected General Secretary.
