Story about Foundation of DPRK to Be Conveyed Long Birth of Our National Flag

National flag is a flag which symbolizes the country.

President Kim Il Sung directed great efforts to deciding on the national flag, regarding the enact of the national flag as one of important state affairs, the work of weighty significance in highlighting the dignity and honor of our country, once eclipsed in the world map, and upgrade the pride and self-esteem of our people.

One January day in １９４８ the President summoned relevant officials in order to learn in detail about the design of the national flag.

Shaking hands with them one by one, he recognized their efforts to work out the design. Looking at their design carefully, he expressed satisfaction over the fact that the design has three colors – red, white and blue.

Presently, the President indicated the color ratio which the creators took great pains to work out and convinced them of its cause. And he taught the ways to perfect the design of the national flag and instructed them to fix a correct ratio of length and width and correct the position of white circle.

A short while later the President asked them what would be put in the white circle.

After listening to the opinion of the creators and inspecting their draft design, he said that it would be good to draw a five-point star and, when it is done, the national flag would show in a more expressive way the tradition our Republic inherits, wisdom of our people and the prosperous development prospect of our motherland.

Listening to the precious instruction of the President, the creators were able to view the completed national flag vividly.

Indeed, our national flag was born thus thanks to the President who reflected his noble intention and ideal even in a line and a kind of color of the national flag with the ardent love for the country.

Looking at the national flag fluttering high, our people keep in their bosom his noble patriotic desire and immortal national founding exploits.

As we uphold the respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un in high esteem, our national flag will demonstrate the prestige of our great and dignified state and flutter higher and more vigorously.
