Success Injecting Vitality into Great Power Producing Base
The Electricity Institute under the State Academy of Sciences has introduced advanced technology into the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex, the leading power producing base of our country.
The institute, engaged in a campaign for powerfully propelling the development of the country’s electric power industry by dint of science, has recently established an advanced excitation system at large-capacity turbine generators and successfully introduced a double digital excitation control device in close cooperation with the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex.
Under the guidance of the Party organization, the officials and scientists of the institute made endeavors to renovate the excitation system of the large-capacity turbine generator with our own advanced technology in keeping with the world development trend and the actual conditions of our country.
In particular, they aimed at renovating the excitation system in a short period, which was urgently needed in operating the large-capacity turbine generator of the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex which takes up a big part in the country’s electricity production and intensified research work to this end.
The scientists of the electric system automation research team who were dispatched to the power complex in December 2024 formulated a rational plan for renovating the excitation system of the large-capacity turbine generator and solved one by one the sci-tech problems arising in designing the system and manufacturing the device.
They succeeded in renovating the excitation system of the above-said generator into the advanced version of our style in a short period and introducing a double digital excitation control device.
Better still, they have successfully applied the technology early this year whose superiority and economic effectiveness were clearly proved in actuality for a year to the excitation system of another generator to the great delight of the workers of the power complex.
As a result, each generator can now produce as much more electricity as the output of a medium-sized power station while saving lots of materials and manpower which used to be consumed in the maintenance and repair of the excitation system in the past and can run on a highly normalized footing.
At present, the officials and scientists of the institute strive to sufficiently solve the sci-tech problems arising in the expanded introduction and the work for putting electricity production on a scientific and modern basis while consolidating the already-made achievement.
