Workers’ Party of Korea Firmly Inheriting Traditions of DIU

１００ years have passed since the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU), the historical root of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), was formed.

The WPK could be developed and strengthened into a veteran and seasoned revolutionary party of invincibility which guides our revolution along the single road of victory as it has kept the ideal of the DIU as its main cornerstone and applied it to its building and activities.

President Kim Il Sung formed the DIU, a new-type vanguard organization, in order to carve out the new path of the Korean revolution on October １７, １９２６.

The formation of the DIU became the starting point and the historical root of the cause of building a revolutionary party of Juche type and the new-generation revolutionaries brought up by the DIU served as the backbone in founding the party.

The history of the Korean revolution which started with the DIU is a history of victory in which the red flag has been held aloft and an undying history in which a precious tradition to be glorified forever was provided.

The noble ideal of the DIU put forth by the President and the principle of independence he adhered to in every period and stage of revolution and construction enabled our people to win brilliant victories in the construction of a new country after liberation, the three-year Fatherland Liberation War, the postwar rehabilitation and two stages of social revolution and the gigantic campaign for socialist construction.

Under the wise leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il who carried forward the tradition of the DIU, the work to model the Party and revolutionary ranks on the Juche idea was promoted more dynamically and continuous victories were achieved in the showdown with the US.

Furthermore, our country has gained the position of an invincible political and ideological power and military power.

Today, the WPK has been developed into an eternal Kimilsungist-Kimjongilist party and exalts its might as a powerful guiding force capable of taking charge of the socialist cause and accomplishing it till the end under the leadership of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un.

As we have the respected General Secretary in high esteem, we are sure to win victory of the cause of the Juche revolution which started with the DIU.
