Implanting Revolutionary Spirit of Self-reliance

Why He Was So Pleased

In January last year, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un attended the completion ceremony of light-industry factories in Jaeryong County and cut the inauguration tape in person.

He then looked around the factories.

While touring the foodstuff factory, he gave precious instructions as to the operation of the factory.

Then he entered the drink production room and stopped in front of a piece of equipment installed there.

An accompanying official informed him that a university in the capital city made the equipment.

The respected General Secretary was so pleased to hear that it was made with our own hands and by our own efforts.

Presently, the respected General Secretary praised that it was so good of them to make the equipment on their own.

He valued the creation of self-reliance and self-development and was so satisfied with it.

Looking up to his venerable image, the officials hardened their will to rely thoroughly on our own efforts, our own wisdom and our technology and resources in making anything and doing anything.

Meaning of His Plain Teaching

One day in October 2016, the respected General Secretary inspected the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site Souvenir Factory.

He entered the sample product room and watched the samples of zipper materials, various colors of zippers and souvenirs with a broad smile on his face.

Though it was not a big product, he was glad that it was localized at a high proportion.

That day, he underlined the need for factories and enterprises in the light-industry sector to home-produce equipment, raw and other materials.

Then he stressed that we should consistently hold fast to the Party’s policy of home production as lifeline.

He continued that officials in the light-industry sector should stick to the Party’s policy on home production as a farmer holds dear his seeds.

His earnest request bore a really profound meaning.

An industry dependent on others cannot be called an industry in the true sense of the word.

Only the industry which progresses and develops by dint of self-reliance can ensure normal production in any circumstances and firmly guarantee the prosperity of the country.

His earnest request still greatly encourages us to follow the single road of self-reliance and self-sufficiency.
