Bringing Veteran Fighter before Young People
One day in January 1996, Choe Kwang, who was working as the then minister of the People’s Armed Forces, was summoned by Chairman
At that time, he was having a rest at a recreation ground thanks to the measure taken by the Chairman.
Choe, who returned to Pyongyang, was told a touching story by an official.
The Chairman, who personally proposed to convene a meeting of representatives of the then League of Socialist Working Youth of Korea, learnt about the preparations of the meeting and taught it would be best to let the minister of the People’s Armed Forces who was on vacation participate in the meeting.
He noted that Choe, who was failing under the weight of years, would gain strength if he took part in the meeting.
In addition, young participants would be greatly encouraged if he, a member of the first generation of our revolution, attended the meeting to congratulate and inspire them, the Chairman taught.
This was how Choe participated in the meaningful meeting of young people held in the presence of the Chairman.
Looking at the young generation full of enthusiasm for upholding the leadership of the Party and the leader with loyalty, the veteran fighter gained infinite joy and strength.
However, he became all the more impressed at the break of the meeting.
The Chairman, who met with exemplary youth league members who were performing labor feats and laudable communist deeds and was appreciating their achievements, suggested that he congratulate the young people.
Choe was so surprised.
For him, it was already a great honor to have participated in the young people’s meeting in the presence of the Chairman.
He had never imagined that he would congratulate the young people.
Reading his mind, the Chairman told with a broad smile that the young people were eager to shake hands with him, wearing a marshal’s uniform.
Choe was so impressed.
He was full of endless gratitude toward the Chairman who bestowed attentive love so that the veteran fighter could lead a proud life even at his advanced age.
The veteran fighter the Chairman brought before the young people--this single story tells us that the fervent comradely love of the Chairman was the driving force which enabled the older generation of revolution to carry on their dignified life full of youthful passion.
