Successes Registered in Cultivation of New land and
Expansion of Grain Production Area


Officials and working people across the country are taking active part in cultivating new land and expanding crop production area.

This year alone, over 900 hectares of new land have been put under cultivation and a large area has been turned into grain production land.

South Hamgyong Province removed a large volume of deposited ore residue at several farms of Tanchon City and gave precedence to land surveying to finish the designing of field rezoning, irrigation network and structures in a short span of time.

The province also finished gathering and transporting cobblestones necessary for embanking the upper stream of the River Pukchong in a short period and secured raw materials, thus providing a guarantee for turning the riverside area into cropland.

Mangyongdae District and other districts in Pyongyang City have pushed ahead with turning idle land into cropland to put scores of hectares of new land under cultivation.

Sakju County of North Phyongan Province has restored a large area of damaged farmland to cropland, and Unsan County of South Phyongan Province turned scores of hectares of dry field into paddy field by completing hundreds meters-long waterway.
