Academic degrees and titles were conferred on intellectuals on the occasion of the significant Day of the Shining Star (the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il).

By conducting the dynamic drive of breaking through the cutting edge true to the Party’s idea of attaching importance to science and technology, those awardees contributed to the building of a powerful socialist country and the improvement of the people’s living standard with their scientific research and education successes.

The title of academician was awarded to Pak Hak Chol, first vice-president of Kim Il Sung University.

The title of candidate academician went to An Myong Hun, a teacher at Kim Il Sung University, Kim Son Ho and Kim Su Ha, researchers of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and Kim Myong Gon, a researcher of Pyongyang University of Fine Arts.

A professorship was conferred on Dean Han Sok Min, Vice Dean An Kwang Il and section chiefs Pak Chol Hae and Rim Yong Son of Kim Il Sung University, Vice Dean Ri Pok Gyu of Kim Chaek University of Technology and others.

A doctorate went to Choe Kyong Il, section chief of Kim Il Sung University, Jong Sun Ok, department head of Kim Chaek University of Technology, So Won Hyok, vice department head of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, Kim Hyok Chol, department director of the State Academy of Sciences, and others.
