One day in January Kang Song Rim, a student of the Second Medical Department of Phyongsong University of Medicine, was unable to sleep till late at night.
Because he was deep in thought of what he should do for his comrades-in-arms to mark the Day of Army Founding this year.
And he pictured the dear unit in which he had passed his soldier’s days and comrades-in-arms who had deepened friendship with him, sharing life and death.
With those facts, Kang remembered his father’s saying on the day when he had matriculated at a university after discharging from military service.
"Don’t forget your post and comrade-in-arms."
Since then, he has begun to assist his dear comrades-in-arms who had undergone the military service together, eating from the same pot under the same roof.
He prepared hundreds of boiled rabbits to be sent to soldiers every winter and he passed many nights for preparing relief materials.
Last year, he did good jobs for soldiers to perform their military duties.
He always remembered the soldiers in the trenches even in rainy and snowy days.
He recollected the day when he had participated in a meeting during his military service to have a souvenir picture taken with the respected General Secretary
A few days later, on the occasion of the significant Day of Army Founding, he sent again a lot of relief materials to the soldiers of his unit.
The road of assistance to the army is the way for him to live without taking off his military uniform all his life, keeping in his mind the love and trust he had received.
