Among those historical relics showing the wisdom and talents of our ancestors is the Bell of Yujom Temple.

Firstly the bell was cast in 1469 and the present one was recast bigger than before in 1729.

The Yujom Temple, which was famous for the biggest one in Mt Kumgang, was destroyed by brutal bombing of U.S. imperialists during the Fatherland Liberation War, but only the bell was undamaged, so it was moved to the newly-built belfry in the boundary of Pohyon Temple in Mt Myohyang.

It is 2.1m in height, 3.9m in round and 7.2t in weight.

The bell is of significance in studying the bells in the latter period of Korean Feudal Dynasty as it characterized well the bells of the period of Korean Feudal Dynasty.
