Arch of Triumph Conveying Achievement of National Liberation by Peerlessly Great Person

2023.8.10.

There is a 60-meter-high grand stone building at the foot of Moran Hill in Pyongyang, DPRK.

This is the Arch of Triumph which was built in commemoration of triumphant return of President Kim Il Sung after liberating Korea from the Japanese military rule by commanding the anti-Japanese revolutionary armed struggle to victory.

It was unveiled on April 14 Juche 71(1982) on the occasion of the 70th birthday of President Kim Il Sung under the guidance of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Seen on the front part are the engraved words of "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and on the pillars are two meaningful years, 1925 and 1945. Those are conveying the exploits of the President who set out on the road of revolution in his teens and achieved Korea’s liberation after 20-year-long anti-Japanese armed struggle.

The carved sculptures on the pillars reflect the ardent reverence of our people for the President and their faith and will to accomplish the cause of Juche revolution.

70 azaleas were carved around the arch-shaped door to symbolize the 70th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

The Arch of Triumph presents its magnificent figure as a grand monumental edifice in good harmony with the wood of Moran Hill and impresses the spectators with its deepness and richness of ideological contents and good formative art.
