Recently, the Ryonggang Folklore Park was splendidly built in Okdo-ri, Ryonggang County.

In this regard Kim Un Yong of the park told us that a lot of people have visited the park since its completion in December last year and cherished more deeply the feeling of ardent love for their birthplaces and motherland through it.

Preserved there in its original state is a house of Kim Ung So who was a famous patriotic general during the Imjin Patriotic War (1592-1598) and it was registered as No. 142 of national treasure.

And Kim is a Kim Ung So’s descendant in the 15th generation.

Saying that there are many descendants of Kim Ung So in the village, Kim led us to the house of Kim Ung So.

Kim noted that in February, Juche 59(1970), while visiting the ri, President Kim Il Sung gave instructions to preserve and manage well the house of Kim Ung So who was a famous patriotic general that fought bravely against foreign invaders during the Imjin Patriotic War, adding with emotion that thanks to the benevolent care of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un, today the folklore park could be splendidly built in the place where another national treasure is preserved.

Listening to Kim’s explanation about Kim Ung So and a virtuous woman Kye Wol Hyang and struggles of the various volunteer corps who fought bravely in the period of the Imjin Patriotic War, we deeply felt the pride and self-esteem that indeed, our people, having strong patriotism from olden times, are honorable one who sacrificed their lives in the fight against the foreign invaders.

Thanks to the ardent patriotism, numerous mental and material heritages boasting the wisdom and talents of the Korean nation were created, Kim said.

In the education space of history, there are relics and remains in the periods of Ancient Korea, Koguryo, Koryo and the Korean Feudal Dynasty including pipha-shaped dagger, narrow bronze dagger, various stone laterns and rain gauge.

Meanwhile, there are Korean-style structures showing our nation’s superiority architecture in the space of folk games.

An official of Nampho City said that the folklore park showing thousands of years of time-honored history and cultural traditions is an important education base which implants the Korean nation-first spirit in people’s mind.

Indeed, the Ryonggyang Folklore Park is a great open-air museum telling the time-honored history and culture of our nation and it will greatly contribute to educating the working people and rising generations in the patriotic spirit.
