Among the people who devote their patriotism to afforestation are Han Song Chol, a forest ranger of Unjong-ri, the Sukchon County Forest Management Station, and members of its sloping land user group.
It has been several years since Han, a demobbed officer, was in charge of the forest in Unjong-ri and he has achieved a lot in the meantime.
He devoted his efforts to the work for turning the mountains under his charge into "mountains of gold" thickly wooded with trees, as he had done in the days of working as a forest ranger in Hungo-ri.
He increased the production of tree saplings while building well the nurseries in forest, together with the members of the sloping land user group.
And he created the forest of grafted pine-nut trees, planting many trees and tending them in a responsible manner.
In addition, he continued to make rounds of the mountains under his charge even on holidays to protect the forest resource of the country.
Their sincere efforts were rewarded with the forest thickly wooded.
Even now they work heart and soul to increase the wealth of the country, seeking the worth of their life and their happiness in earnest devotion to afforestation.
