Encouraging Popularization of Taekwon-Do

 

The Pyongyang Higher Educational Books Printing Plant encourages the popularization of Taekwon-Do, the Korean national sport.

Choe Sun Yong, an official of the trade union of the factory, explained that anyone can learn Taekwon-Do easily if they want to do and it is extremely helpful in their physical culture, adding that the enthusiasm for learning Taekwon-Do is growing among the employees of the factory.

A girl worker of the factory practices skills by herself standing in front of the mirror after her daily work; a youth takes exercise every morning to master Taekwon-Do; and other employees of the factory, too, learn it hard.

Thus, on the first day of sports this year, there could be seen all the employees who were playing Taekwon-Do at the playground of the factory, following the demonstration of Taekwon-Do.

Amid the growing interest in Taekwon-Do, the officials and employees of the factory improve their Taekwon-Do skills, and also their enthusiasm for increased production is growing.

 

Cooking Contest of National Dishes

 

A few days ago, there took place a cooking contest of national dishes at the Kyongamsan Noodle House in Sariwon City.

Many national dishes including the Korean-style chowder and buckwheat noodles, and different drinks such as ptisan were presented to the contest.

The national dishes presented to the contest show the talent and wisdom of the Korean ancestors who made different kinds of delicious foods using the same foodstuff from olden times.

Kim Un Hui, manageress of the house and other judges examined the presented dishes.

A Korean-style chowder prepared by a head cook Ro Song Sim using different materials such as a white cabbage, dehydrated starch noodle, bean curd, mushroom, pork and deep-color pigment attracted the participants’ attention.

And a noodle served in hot meat soup and garnishes was praised in the contest.

The cooking contest of national dishes which is held every month serves as an important occasion for making the employees of the house improve their cooking skills true to the Party’s intention to encourage the national dishes and further develop the cooking culture.
