A meeting of agricultural workers and members of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea (UAWK) took place at the seat of Anak County, South Hwanghae Province on January 12. The participants vowed to thoroughly implement the resolutions of the 9th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK).

Present there were Min Sung Chol, vice department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, officials concerned, officials of the union, agricultural workers and members of the union.

Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the Central Committee of the UAWK, made a report to be followed by speeches.

The reporter and speakers said that the issue of settling the food problem for the people is directly related to the bolstering of the national power, calling for positively applying scientific farming methods, increasing the soil fertility and doing wheat and potato farming properly to ensure the sustained growth of agricultural production.

They stressed the importance to produce more tasty and nutritious crops in vegetable, fruit, industrial crops and livestock farming fields, take thorough veterinary and anti-epizootic measures and increase the output of livestock products.

They also called for actively turning out in various mass movements including the movement for donating rice to the country to make more achievements of loyalty and patriotism with the mind of placing the interests of the country above their own.

The reporter and speakers called upon all the union officials and members and agricultural workers to redouble their efforts and display greater enthusiasm to fulfill their honorable mission and duty as the ones responsible for the country’s granary.

A letter of pledge to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was adopted at the meeting.

Then followed a demonstration.
