Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and premier of the Cabinet, inspected the Ryongdae Youth Coal Mine under the Sunchon Area Youth Coal Mining Complex and the Sungri General Motor Enterprise.
At the Ryongdae Youth Coal Mine, the premier encouraged the officials and workers in the drive for increased coal production from the beginning of the year, true to the idea and spirit of the December 2023 Plenary Meeting of the Party Central Committee, and called for perfectly carrying out the policy tasks for this year with greater confidence and redoubled efforts.
The coal industry is standing in the forefront of the drive for fulfilling our Party’s plan for self-supporting economic construction, he said, stressing the need to provide a sure guarantee for revitalizing production by giving priority to tunneling, as required by the Party policies, to create more coal fields, raising the proportion of mechanized work in faces and pushing ahead with the construction of drain adits in order to satisfactorily meet the growing demand for coal in the overall economic sectors.
Learning in detail about the production at the Sungri General Motor Enterprise, the premier called for setting detailed, step-wise and long-term technical updating and modernization goals in line with the orientation of the development of the machine-building industry set by the Party and implementing them one after another with tenacity and through correct execution.
He stressed the need to raise the quality, regarding its as the primary requirement and vital issue, make effective use of the existing production foundation and further technically improve the processes for producing automobiles in order to step up the work for readjustment and reinforcement.
The field consultative meetings urged relevant units to give priority to the supply of equipment and materials needed for coal production, discussing such issues as strengthening the ties with scientific research institutes in the production of high-performance vehicles and actively organizing the manufacture of products under contract.
