From the outset of the new year, the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, a grand base of the metallurgical industry in the northern part of the country, makes innovation in increasing the iron and steel production.

Workers of the complex have turned out as one in implementing the resolutions of the 9th Plenum of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and succeeded in the rolled steel production.

The stirring sights of the molten Juche iron pouring out of the oxygen heat blast furnace built with our own efforts and technology, the quality gas mass-produced at the fluidized bed gas generator and the steel ingots produced successively from the high-temperature air-combustion heating furnace by coal gas are the eruption of firm confidence and will of its working people to uphold the WPK with steel.

This year, too, the workers and technicians of the complex made a big stride of the new year march with the high zeal and courage to display again the spirit as the eldest son working class in attaining the goal of the iron and steel production set forth by the Party.

The Party committee of the complex has conducted the organizational and political work among the officials, workers and technicians to ensure that they demonstrate their ardent loyalty and patriotic devotion in the first march of the new year and they direct their efforts to preparing for the rolled steel production.

The staff of the complex directed primary efforts to supplying necessary materials so as to reduce the date of checking and repairing equipment, while paying special attention to supplying the raw and other materials and fuel by strengthening the connection with relevant units under the condition that the production capability was increased.

Those of the different units of the complex including the workshops of gas generator and hot-rolling, too, pushed ahead with the work for the equipment maintenance.

Thus they provided the sci-tech guarantee for increasing the molten iron production per charge by introducing the rational technical innovations and carried out in a short period the general overhaul of the fluidized bed gas generator and high-temperature air-combustion heating furnace which are of significance in putting the rolled steel production on a Juche basis.

Thanks to the efforts of the complex’s workers, signal successes have been made in the rolled steel production day by day.
