The Choesung Pavilion on Moran Hill, a scenic spot in Pyongyang, was built in the middle of the sixth century (Koguryo period) and rebuilt in 1716.
It is a single-storied gabled house.
Its front is 7.36m and its side 4.67m. The pavilion is enclosed with stone wall about 80cm high.
People feel stable in the building though the pavilion is on a high place.
The red painted pillars and colorfully painted wooden fabrics and the gable roof like a flying crane add beauty to the building.
During the Fatherland Liberation War the Choesung Pavilion was greatly damaged by the indiscriminate bombings of the U.S. imperialists and later it was rehabilitated thanks to the policy of our Party on protecting the national heritage.
People can enjoy a bird’s eye view of beautiful Moran Hill and scenery of the River Taedong from the Choesung Pavilion which is a pride of Pyongyang showing the superior architecture of the Korean nation.
