Taesongsan Sabina chinensis var, A Living Monument

There are a lot of precious and beautiful living monuments in our country.

Among them is the Taesongsan Sabina chinensis var.

It grows at the Central Botanical Garden in Pyongyang.

Originally it had grown in Nampho since around the year 1600, and was replanted at the botanical garden in Juche 48 (1959).

The tree is 3.2m high, 3.3m in girth at its base and 3.1m at its middle. Width of its crown is 14m and some 41m in its girth.

The tree, which is valuable for studying the maximum life span of Sabina chinensis var, covers a large area in the horizontal direction and has a good appearance and fragrant scenery.

The Taesongsan Sabina chinensis var is the biggest one among those in our country, and it was registered as a natural monument and put under conservation.
