The 2024 national schoolchildren’s sports contest opened with due ceremony at the Samjiyon City Hall of Culture on January 29.

The contest will bring together more than 8 000 excellent sports group members of schools who proved successful in city, county and provincial preliminaries. Competed there will be matches of 18 events including Taekwon-Do, Ssirum, basketball and skiing.

Present at the opening ceremony were Kang Sin Chang, secretary of the Ryanggang Provincial Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, officials of the youth league and schoolchildren.

Paek Hak Ryong, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, made an opening address.
