Upholding the resolutions of the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee officials and scientists of the Coal Institute are conducting the research to solve the sci-tech problems arising in increasing the coal production.

They push ahead with the work of introducing new technology for normalizing the coal production on high level at the bituminous coal mines in the northern part of the country.

Last year the officials and scientists of the institute successfully concluded the field trial introduction of the technology of prevention of spontaneous combustion and gas drawing by pooling efforts with workers of the Kogonwon Coal Mine.

On this basis they conduct research work vigorously after setting the target for heightening extraction rate of coal.

The Mining Engineering Institute puts all its efforts into developing pneumatic revolving drill. Officials and researchers completed the design of the drill and its technical preparation in a short span of time and make efforts to manufacture prototype of the drill by the first half of this year.

The Chongjin Mining Engineering Institute is directing efforts to developing advanced mining method and efficient mining equipment.

Other institutes also make efforts to work out success in research which can substantially contribute to the increased production of coal.
